BB's Decadent Chocolate Drinking Powder - Not Your Average Drinking Powder!

Updated: Jan 15

These past few weeks, I have been on a journey with my mum to discover the optimal mix of flour, sweetness and flavour to create BB's Brownie in a mug. And, here it is!

An indulgent chocolate treat on a chilly winter evening!

Ingredients

  • 30mls Oil or Butter

  • 60mls of Water/Milk

  • 3 heaped tablespoons (60 gm) of BB's Chocolate Drinking Powder

  • 1 tablespoon (20 gm) of Self-Raising Flour

  • A handful of chocolate choc chips

Method

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a microwave-safe mug in the order listed and stir until well mixed. Sprinkle a few extra chocolate drops on top.

  2. Put the mug in the microwave and heat on high for 1 minute and 10 seconds (adjust for a more cake-like brownie if desired).

Some Ingredient Adjustments for Convenience

The recipe is an egg free brownie. If you want to include an egg to boost the protein in the dessert, simply add the egg and reduce the liquid of milk/water by 30mls. This will assist with maintaining the desired consistency. Additionally, the recipe calls for self -raising flour, you can opt for plain flour instead of self-raising flour. Please note though, if you do the switch, the plain flour will need a 1/2 tsp of baking powder.

As always, if you prefer, you can use water instead of milk in the recipe. The chocolate powder is milk-based, so you'll still get that wonderful milky effect in the final product. And while you can skip the chocolate drops, it's highly recommended to include them for an amazing transformation. They will take your dish to a whole new level, boosting the taste and texture to create a truly sensational experience!

How to make BB's Blondie in a Mug!

A Cooking Tip

In the video, we microwaved the brownie in the mug on high for 1 minute and 10 seconds. All microwaves vary. Start with a minute, test the brownie using the end of a spoon, and if the spoon is still very wet, microwave for another 10-15 seconds. You may need to repeat this process several times to achieve the desired texture. FYI, we like ours a little gooey, so the 1 minute and 10 seconds usually does the trick.

Why use BB's Decadent Chocolate Drinking Powders for Baking?

Our decadent chocolate drinking powder includes a number of ingredients that lends itself to baking. Firstly, it contains natural flavours such as vanilla or chocolate which means there is no need to include the pure cocoa and vanilla ingredients in our recipes. Secondly, it contains stabilizer's which offers grace when it comes to recipe quantities and substitutions - no need for perfection, and lastly the recipe will be sweet but not as sugary as traditional recipes.

Thus, commences the quest to create naturally flavoured, simple-to-bake traditional delicacies...

Wow, I had the most amazing conversations with my incredible mum that stirred up such heartwarming memories of my dear Nanna Merle! She was an absolute baking genius, and we can't help but smile at the thought of her delicious creations. I am beyond excited to bring these sweet treats to life and share them with the world. Today, I whipped up some heavenly white chocolate steamed puddings, paired with strawberry jam!
